Jon Huntsman Cartoons

Former Utah governor Jon Huntsman has entered the crowded field of Republicans seeking to oust President Obama, saying that America needs “more than hope” as he formally announced his candidacy today.

No cartoonist knows Huntsman better than our man in Utah, Pat Bagley, the brilliant long-time staffer at the Salt Lake Tribune. Bagley is a lefty cartoonist fighting against all odds in a heavily-conservative state where the Mormon church holds sway.

With Huntsman entering the race, now the GOP has two Morman candidates to chose from. Will it hurt him among conservative voters?

Certainly Huntsman won’t be winning a Tony Award for his announcement…

For a Republican party interested in the best possible candidate, the future can be a bit uncertain…

Will Huntsman’s role as President Obama’s ambassador to China hurt his conservative street cred?

If not that, maybe his support of Civil Unions might upset conservative voters…

Team him up with Ron Paul and they might have something
but he makes way too much sense to be elected by a party that’s controlled by
religious fanatics and hateful T bag Nuts, and if he was elected he’d be vetoing his own
parties agenda!

HUNTSMAN IS NOT A REPUBLICAN; HE IS A MODERATE DEMOCRAT. WHEN IT COMES TO ECONOMICS, HE MIGHT BE OK. BUT HE IS TOO LIBERAL FOR ME.

etrn

genghis khan would have been too liberal for you. i cannot think of anyone, even sen santorum that is not too far left for you to stomach.
thankfully little is heard from you that makes any sense at all

In Texas, there are a lot of folks who think Hitler was too moderate.  Huntsman, who appears to have a pragmatic agenda that isn’t tainted by freedom-hating pseudo-Christian disciples of greed and hate, is the only Republican on the party’s list of hopefuls that I might be able to vote for.

By the way, there’s a name for people who think individual states have the right to succeed from the Union.  They’re called traitors!

Check out the German Nazi Party and you will find out that they were NOT conservatives by progressives/liberals.

a fox view of history if I ever heard one.check out the meaning of idiot, its got your post as a definition.

they have the power to secede, the ”right” was settled by the civil war in a most resounding way.

I AM NOT A TRAITOR. I WISH TEXAS WOULD SECEDE FROM THE UNION. I AM TIRED OF A BUNCH OF CROOKED, BRIBE-TAKING POLITICIANS TELLING ME HOW TO LIVE MY LIFE AND CAUSING ME PROBLEMS. I BELIEVE IN WORKING, NOT DRAWING WELFARE LIKE YOU DOG TICK DEMOCRATS. I BELIEVE IN DRILLING FOR OIL HERE, NOT PAYING ARGENTINIANS TO DRILL THERE. I BELIEVE THAT PEOPLE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO WORK WITHOUT BEING FORCED TO JOIN A CORRUPT UNION.

THAT SHOULD BE ENOUGH FOR YOU TO DIGEST NOW. I WILL CONTINUE LATER.

WHY DON’T YOU MOVE TO EUROPE AND LIVE ON THE DOLE THERE?

”I WISH TEXAS WOULD SECEDE FROM THE UNION” they tried it once, but failed miserably,or did you miss that part of history? Please do us all a favor and dont you move anywhere, you fit nicely where you are.

I wish cA would. The only ones who would be offended are nancy, henry, babs, moon beam, the sanchez twits and a few million illegals.

it is sort of amusing that people who have never been to or lived in california have such opinions about the state and know nothing about it.
for all you knownothings, orange country in southern california is a very conservative section of the state, and certainly not the only one. i ran for office there as a republican, but even then some of the things the hard care did or wanted to do were really bizarre.
one year the mayor’s prayer breakfast had charles colson , newly released from federal prison, as the keynote speaker. that was too much for me. i prefer not to dine with convicted felons no matter how much they might proclaim their remorse. i still doubt that any of the nixon camp followers had any remorse as they tried to subvert the constitution and cast off their oath of office.
but marine, if in your woeful fit of complete ignorace you feel that california is a bad place, please stay in the hills of tennessee where you might not be able to do harm.
and for goodness sakes, please stop writing those snarky little twitterish comments that have no correspondence to the subject at hand. you are not nor ever will be a stand up comedian. you are not funny, but it is sort of sad to see what i presume is a grown man make an ass of yourself over and over again as you try to be comical.

it must be fun being the most uneducated guy on the block. i know you think you are parroting america’s core principles but if you could read, and if you would do so , you would find you are WRONG.

and i’m guessing you think that our texas politicians are paragons of virtue.
i’m remembering a statistic about the way texans take care of their own. now remind me of how much texas invests in education (pre- latest legislative session), expressed as it’s ranking . . . oh, yeah: 45th. at least we spend more than mississippi . . . maybe.

No, Tom Delay slipped up a bit in Politics and on DWTS. Same goes for LBJ except for the DWTS stint.

Good idea, this secession of Texas. I’d be all for it too, but probably for different reasons than you. Let them secede, wait about twenty years, and then we’ll see if the rest of America was a burden to them, or vice versa.

I will be surprised if noone gives Huntsman an “Oscar” for his staging, introduction of ALL his family members, and the glowing remarks about Reagan.

Don’t care much for Mormonism, but I’d like to know more about Huntsman.  He might be statesman enough to carry the day.

Note to self – Stop reading these comments.  The lunacy never ends.  The Terrorists have won, and they don’t even know it.  We will pick each other apart.

Jim – goofy is a ferriner. It is OK to beat up on him. Kind of like the game “Whack-A-Mole”. Beats smoking.

Huntsman would probably be right in there with the liberals, helping them complete the destruction of this nation.  We don’t learn from Greece, we don’t learn from the past, and we’re so stupid we think Dubya was conservative and Obama is qualified.  We’re in deep trouble, and although Huntsman would be 1000% better than what we have now, he still doesn’t get it.  Government is trouble, and it’s not what we need.

its the people that are stupid, the people that run for office are only there because we allow them to be.Both parties are owned by big oil and the wealthy elite, the election  is simply an outlet they allow us to argue things we cant change.

Oh for a big oil man/woman. Hell, I’d even prefer a peanut farmer over a community organizer.

the ”peanut” got us into war with Iraq, spent countless trillions on a war based on lies, the ”community organizer got bin laden.tell yo mama, obama got osama.

No, carter only failed on his attempt to rescue the iranian hostages. 3 equal commanders for one mission. What was he thinking?

Yeah, I saw the photo where barry’s face was photochopped to all in attendance. It was funny. At least he can now smoke openly and use his middle name. I thought Congress made it illegal to assassinate foreign adversaries.

That 3-5 pt blip in the polls didn’t last very long.

Huntsman may have some liberal views, but I’d rather have a president I agree with 80% of the time than 10% of the time. I was pulling for Herman Cain but after I heard some of his views, I’m not so sure. Still he’s better than Obama. Now, although he claims he isn’t running, I’m beginning to really like Chris Christie. Can’t agree with him on gun control, but see sentence one above.

Gas averaging around 3.50/gallon here in South Carolina.  Not cheap, but less than some places I’ve been or read about.
