Best of the Protest 2

Here’s my latest cartoon about the media focus on looting along with my recent protest favorites from all of the CagleCartoonists. Passions are running high on the right and the left, which makes for some great cartoons and many angry readers who object to the cartoons, including my own cartoons. Many of the cartoons, like my cartoon today, are not likely to be reprinted in newspapers. Editors don’t like cartoons with poop and with criticism of other media.

My cartoon is about how looting steals the attention of the media, especially the conservative media, but all of the major media.  Here’s are a bunch of great ones from the past couple of days.(I wouldn’t call my cartoon “great,” it is kind of stinky.)

Thinking of Michael Flynn

I get a cable TV channel that lets me see a view of four news networks at once and I regularly switch back and forth between CNN, BBC, MSNBC and Fox News – and Fox News is a completely different world, especially the past couple of days as they have obsessed over the Michael Flynn story while other news focuses almost exclusively on the pandemic.

One thing I wanted to do in the cartoon was to draw the screaming Democrat donkey with a mask, and the daydreaming, pandemic-disinterested Republican with no mask. It occurred to me – what if I wanted to draw the elephant with a mask; how would I do that? A mask is supposed to cover your nose. Would the elephant have a mask the size of a bed sheet? Would his mask have a hose-like extension for his trunk? If I drew anything like that, would it even look like a mask?

These are important questions for Republicans, but only if they are going to wear masks. Wearing a mask is effective in protecting others, not yourself, so it makes ideological sense why Republicans would not want to wear them … still, if MAGA Republicans did want to wear them, I’d be in cartoon trouble.

Here is the rough sketch for this one, that I drew on a piece of Cagle Cartoons letterhead.

Notice that I thought about drawing the elephant in a Fox News t-shirt, but I decided against it. FoxNews.com used to be a great subscriber to CagleCartoons, but they recently cancelled their subscription. That’s very disappointing and a giant step in their descent into hell.

This post got me to thinking, so I drew this …

Trump and Twitter

Here’s my new TwitterTrump with the media.

I searched our database for other “Trump hair on the Twitter bird” cartoons for this blog post just now, and I found this similar Nate Beeler from some months ago.

Ouch! That is pretty similar and Trump looks poised to barf. We’re getting to a saturation point on Trump with Twitter-bird cartoons; there are thousands.  Twitter-bird in Trump’s nesty hair is pretty common, as are Twitter birds pooping on and swarming around Trump in all manner of aggressive scenarios. Just go to PoliticalCartoons.com and search for “Twitter” to see the swarmy swarm.

O’Reilly Kicked Out

I’ve enjoyed the O’Reilly news. It is so nice to have a story that doesn’t involve Trump or possible nuclear annihilation. Here’s my new cartoon on O’Reilly getting the boot.

Here’s an O’Reilly oldie I drew 13 years ago. He looks so much younger …

And we’ve gotten more O’Reilly cartoons today, here are some I liked, below. I think O’Reilly is hard to draw. I have to fiddle around with his face for quite a while before I’m happy with is. Rick McKee didn’t have any trouble with the O’Reilly in his cartoon below …

This Ed Wexler cartoon is a great Trump caricature …

And I liked this David Fitzsimmons “Killing” cartoon …

Bill O’Reilly and Fox News Analysts

Here’s Bill O’Reilly and those sexy, Fox New analysts. I drew this one last week and I haven’t been very good about posting these – sorry. I’m working on a new O”Reilly cartoon now that we have the news that O’Reilly got the boot today. Keep your eyes peeled for that one!

Here are a few of my recent O’Reilly favorites by our other cartoonists … I thought this first one by Adam Zyglis would be a Yahtzee – but no …

This John Darkow cartoon made me laugh, and I like his O’Reilly caricature …

Here’s my buddy Steve Sack!

And my buddy Sean Delonas seems to have enjoyed rendering this one …

Donald Trump Skips the Fox News/GOP/Iowa Debate!

Frankly, I think it is smart of Trump to skip the Fox News/GOP/Iowa debate tonight.  Fox News seems to be on an all-out anti-Trump blitz today. What happened to the good old days when news networks were fair and balanced?

I drew this one as a live stream on Twitch – please come and follow me at Twitch.tv/darylcagle. This one took about four hours to draw, so it is broken into two parts. Here’s part one, where I start with a blank sheet of paper and figure out what to draw.

Oh! That was two hours long! And there are ANOTHER two hours to watch in the video below!

The pundits on Fox News are holding their breath, turning blue, waiting for Obama to say the words, “Islamic Terrorists.” It may be a long wait.

I’ve gotten comments about how there appears to be nothing inside of Obama’s head. I wasn’t really thinking about making him be brainless, rather I was thinking of his skull as something of an echo chamber.

This cartoon was the product of my first try at live streaming the process of my drawing a cartoon. I had some tech difficulties, particularly with the sound. And I see that I will need to develop a new skill set for talking constantly while I draw. I should do a little better next time, solving these problems as I go along. Take a look at the YouTube video of my drawing session below. If the streaming is popular I’ll set up a regular time for it in the future. In the meantime, I’ll announce on Facebook and Twitter when I’ll be going live on YouTube.

Dr. Ben Carson is NOT a Liar!

I think Dr. Ben Carson is NOT a liar. Now, given that, I need to decide if that is a good thing.

carson-on-caglePeople always say, “Daryl, with this presidential election you must be having so much fun! And you must be soon busy!” Actually, newspapers don’t use any more editorial cartoon when times are fun, so it never gets busier. And having the campaign dominate the news for a year doesn’t make a cartoonist’s life more fun. A little variety adds spice.
But, Ben Carson is fun. We have a wonderful and growing collection of Ben Carson cartoons on Cagle.com Come take a look! My talented buddy Taylor Jones drew that Carson in our promo.

Here are a couple of my recent favorites, this first one is by my buddy, Jeff Koterba of the Omaha World-Herald:

This one is by the brilliant Kevin Siers of the Charlotte Observer:

This strange one from Randall Enos made me laugh out loud – it is a linoleum block print that Randy carves with a knife, inks and prints on paper, then scans, showing Jesus carrying a sleeping Carson at the head of the presidential race – I think that says it all.

Hillary at the Benghazi Hearing Today
